The OxyContin Express

South Florida, the "Colombia of prescription drugs", to expose a bustling pill pipeline that stretches from the beaches of Ft. Lauderdale to the rolling hills of Appalachia. "The OxyContin Express" features intimate access with pill addicts, prisoners and law enforcement as each struggles with a growing national epidemic.

I'm new to discovering Current.com's award-winning documentary series "Vanguard". This episode really opened my eyes and gave me pause. Having lived in Miami Beach, the Florida coverage hit even harder. I personally discovered the series on Hulu, and then I decided to go straight to Current and check out more. I wonder if there is a measurable Hulu effect driving traffic, or more importantly views, to off-network productions.

I feel encouraged as internet-based media grows into a more professional production. All media will have an internet core in time, and I'm happy that alternatives to mainstream media are able to deliver where big media has been failing America and the World. Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who made headlines while being held captive by North Korea, were doing work for Vanguard. I wish I knew more about the outfit then.

Hat's off. Keep up the excellent journalism, Vanguard.

This was a great video to show the absolute ease of getting OxyContin--legal heroin, from these pill pushing doctors. This has to change.
